New Year Resolution 3

We have come again to that time of the year when we make worldly ritual(s), a time when we make promises to ourselves to improve our ways of life to become better persons. As vanity as it (making New Year resolution) may sound, there is no doubt that it comes with some sort of persuasion, at least we feel better afterwards. The funny thing about this worldly ritual is that, initially, the desire burns into our minds, but the buy-in to execute often evanesce, hence making all the shining resolutions mere mirage.

Last year, I resolved, and persuaded readers to make mistakes. I made a lot of mistakes in 2014, but most importantly, I learnt from them. I hope you learnt from your mistakes? This year, I choose to obey Matt Cameron; to live life to the fullest, and focus on the positive.

As I lounged at the Jumeirah Beach, in Dubai, praising the sun to the skies for being munificent with its rays, in reminiscent of how the year 2014 has been for me. In high spirits of anonymous privacy my mind sailed through the pages of my hippocampus. No doubts, as Jeanne C. Stein said in her book: Blood Drive, life in 2014 did not seem like the party I had hoped for, but I did not just dance; I danced like it was my last party. Like I have noted previously, life is all about choices; the choices we make in life determine our experiences and in turn our experiences shape our choices in life.

You may have been through hell in 2014. The year 2014 may have shown you the ugliest side of life. The ups and downs brought by the year 2014 may have borne down too much on you. Life may have knocked you down numerous times within the year that it seemed hard to get up. The year 2014 may have shown you much pains that you now know what pains taste like.

Despite all the setbacks you may have experienced in 2014, do not give in to pity party. You are still standing. You are still growing. You are still learning. You are still wearing your smiling face. You have come a long way to give up, remember that!

No doubts, life is not devoid of regrets. With all your regrets you must keep smiling. With all your mistakes in 2014 you must keep learning. With all your numerous falls you must keep standing. With all your losses you must keep counting blessings.

In times of adversity avail yourself the opportunity to gain more knowledge from your circumstances. Adversities in life come with bunch of lessons. Open your mind to new lessons, close your eyes to pity parties, and shut your mouth to excuses.

Confront your demons. Defeat your fears. Create your bottom line. Bring down the walls of despondency obstructing your viewpoints. Look beyond the mirror of your challenges. See the possibilities in all your adversities. Do not be scared of trying. Make mistakes. Learn your lessons.
Uncertainty is man’s greatest torture, as fear of the unknown is man’s worst enemy. As we wrap up the year 2014 and usher in the year 2015, we do not know what is coming to us. But as Barbara Jordan rightly said, for all its uncertainty, we cannot flee the future. I know something is coming. I am not scared of trying. I will never be scared.

As you look for a change in 2015, remember you are your own change. You change your games, you change your world. It does not matter how little a change you can make. Every effort you make adds greater value to the common pool. The steps you take may seem like a smidgen of a jam for a toast, but every inch of that step can foster change and make a big difference. You may not realize you are making moves. But surely you will turn into something big. I do not know what it is. We are metamorphosing!

Happy New Year. Thank you for (always) stopping in!
